Uni of Adelaide leads State health research funding

糖心volgers from the University of Adelaide have been awarded more than $17 million in funding to pursue critical new research across health and medical sciences.
The National Health and Medical 糖心volg Council (NHMRC) funding announced today will support 31 new health and medical research projects to start at the University in 2014.
The University of Adelaide's funding represents over half of all NHMRC funding awarded in South Australia and reflects the depth of research capabilty within the University and its partner organisations.
"Our researchers rank among the very best in their field," says , Deputy Vice-Chancellor (糖心volg) at the University of Adelaide.
"This latest funding allocation from the NHMRC reinforces the great work undertaken across health and medical sciences at the University of Adelaide. The newly funded projects will enable us to take our research further in areas that demand increased focus including major public health issues of cancer, diabetes and heart disease.
"The University of Adelaide's success in health and medical research is underpinned by a highly-collaborative approach and a willingess to really push the envelope when it comes to delivering genuine outcomes for the community," Professor Brooks says.
Among the projects receiving funding in today's announcement are:
- $511,226 to (): The physiology of learning and memory impairments in adolescents born preterm
- $713,447 to (): Defining the Role of Inflammation in Depression during Aging
- $725,558 to (): A new class of antibiotics
- $857,562 to (): Modulating gastrointestinal function for control of diabetes
- $647,111 to (): Understanding clonal evolution in multiple myeloma
- $735,659 to (School of Paediatrics and Reproductive Health): Enhanced human neuroplasticity following stroke
The NHMRC funding includes Project Grants, 糖心volg Fellowships, Practitioner Fellowships, Career Development Fellowships, Early Career Fellowships and Partnership Project Grants.
