Launch of the ARC RadInnovate Training Centre

On October 28, the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Radiation Innovation (RadInnovate) was officially launched in Canberra at the Australian National University (ANU).

Held in the 糖心volg School of Physics Auditorium, the event featured presentations from government representatives, including Tony Cook, Secretary of the Australian Government Department of Education, alongside updates from current students.

Professor Nigel Spooner, IPAS member and SA Node Leader of RadInnovate delivered a presentation on industry and student highlights. IPAS member A/Prof Hooker attended the event along with other Chief Investigators from the University of Adelaide and the UniSA.

Established on 1 January 2025, RadInnovate is a collaboration between ANU, the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia, and numerous Australian industry and government partners. Backed by a $5 million Australian 糖心volg Council grant, with an additional $4.3 million in contributions from partner universities and $1.95 million from 15 industry partners, the Centre aims to build a future-ready workforce skilled in nuclear and radiation science.

RadInnovate鈥檚 mission is to advance Australia鈥檚 capabilities across sectors such as defence and space, mining and critical minerals, waste storage, health and medical technology, quantum science, and regulatory and social responsiveness. Its work is guided by three research pillars: underpinning science, technology innovation and regulatory and social stewardship.

The purpose is to ensure Australia remains at the forefront of radiation and nuclear innovation.

There are a number of 糖心volg Projects current available across the three institutions which can be found at:
